International Women's Day edition

Friday was "International Women's Day"  which basically meant that on social media every sponsored or promoted post assumed you were female, the BBC decided the One Show would be present just by women and lots of posts and meetings were done by women discussing female empowerment.

Note there is not an International Men's Day and increasingly organizations are having co-presented shows on radio and tv to avoid just a man doing it but it's okay for all women presented shows, apparently.

Meghan Markel contributed the thought she believed her baby should be a feminist regardless of gender and adding "men can understand that they can be feminists" at which point a wave of disgust came over me.

Men can and should support equal opportunity, treating both genders as equals but they cannot be feminists because it's not your struggle, you don't have a stake in that battle and to the extent you should have a stake in anything personally it's about the roles and treatment of men, men like you that should be your own battle.

Things like the shortage of male teachers that means boys are going without good male role models in class especially in single parent households, low levels of boys achievement in math and english, higher male unemployment and involvement in violent crime.

These ARE our battles to argue for as men and boys, fighting for a better deal so as boys and men we can contribute along with girls and women to bettering society.

We don't need women enlisting us first and foremost in their own battles because it is our responsibility to fight for ourselves and that assumes everything is fine in the male world.
It isn't and many males are less than privileged.
